5th Grade Tallit Workshops

At KSDS, crafting unique tallitot for our middle school tefillah has been a treasured tradition for 5th graders.

Students delve into the significance of wearing a tallit, collaborate with local clergy, and utilize our MakerSpace tools to design their own one-of-a-kind tallit. They even master the art of knot-tying to transform their fabric into sacred ritual objects.

Throughout this enriching journey, our students forge deep connections with their tallit, crafted with their own hands. They proudly wear these tallitot during tefillah, carrying the essence of their middle school years with them.

These personalized tallitot aren’t meant to replace those given during a child’s B’nei Mitzvah; rather, they serve to deepen our students’ understanding of the significance and beauty of wearing a tallit as they transition toward adulthood.
