Our Story
A Timeline of Jewish Education and Community
Our Mission: Krieger Schechter Day School of Chizuk Amuno Congregation provides an unparalleled Jewish and general studies education empowering our students to become confident, successful, and valued members of society as committed and knowledgeable Jews.
Our Values: Our values are Jewish values. We expect every member of our community to act with consideration and kindness for others. Whether you call it menshlihkeit or derekh eretz, these values have their foundation in the Torah. They sustain our school community just as they sustain the Jewish community as a whole.
Our Origin: In response to a need within the North American Jewish community, the Schechter Day School Movement arose in the 1950s in the hope of providing day schools that would educate our children in accordance with the teachings of Conservative Judaism.
The Solomon Schechter Day School Association, formally structured in 1969, now has more than 40 such schools. Founded in 1981 and named in recognition of its major benefactor, the Zanvyl and Isabelle Krieger Fund, Krieger Schechter Day School operates under the auspices of Chizuk Amuno Congregation, a founding member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Utilizing the campus of Chizuk Amuno, Krieger Schechter Day School receives professional guidance and support from the Congregation.
